Crypto Signal Bot Failures: Duplicate, Stale and Uncertain Events

Follow a fictional event sequence through retries, rejection and reconciliation without treating proposed safeguards as vendor guarantees.

Fictional examples, declared assumptions, no connected accounts.

Do not collapse transport into execution

A sender can publish an instruction, a receiver can acknowledge an HTTP request, an application can validate content and a venue can accept an order. A fill is another event. Each needs its own identifier and event meaning. An acknowledgement from one stage cannot be promoted to evidence of a later stage just because the intended workflow often succeeds. Preserve original records before assigning a fault to a component.

3Commas documents server-originated signals and dynamic JSON fields; TradingView documents alert configuration. Those references establish possible integration mechanisms, not a guaranteed end-to-end order path in every subscription. A proposed test plan should cover the selected application and venue rather than assume that a generic webhook format is a complete account contract. This guide describes a fictional evaluation, not an observed paid-product outage.

Complete a duplicate-event case

In an invented ledger, setup S-01 produces message M-01. The receiver records M-01 twice because a response was not available to the sender. Both deliveries refer to one intended action. A classroom design labels the second receipt duplicate, but it cannot assume an actual vendor or venue deduplicates it. The test must inspect the downstream order identifiers. Two HTTP receipts alone do not reveal whether there were zero, one or two accepted orders.

The completed fictional result is deliberately bounded: two message receipts, one inspected accepted order O-01, and no supplied fill record. The review reports one acceptance and unresolved execution. It does not mark a profitable trade. A real implementation needs a declared idempotency policy, durable state and reconciliation across failure/restart; merely remembering the last message in a browser tab is not evidence of robust production behaviour.

Keep stale and invalid events visible

Give the fictional source an explicit validity end of 12:05 UTC. A receipt at 12:06 is outside that declared window, even if a later chart still looks attractive. An unknown time zone or unsigned local clock leaves eligibility unresolved. The test should not change the validity rule after seeing an outcome. Old messages retained for audit should not become new entry authority when a receiver restarts.

A separate fictional message names an unavailable symbol. Its rejection is part of operational completeness, not a losing executed trade or a hidden successful opportunity. Save the message, validation decision and the source of the current mapping. If a system silently substitutes another asset or contract, the object under review has changed. No price-result arithmetic should follow until the substitution policy and authorised instrument are established.

Treat timeouts as uncertainty, not rejection

An order submission can have an uncertain result when its response is missing. A timeout does not necessarily prove the venue rejected it, and retrying immediately can create another operation. A classroom procedure first records the uncertainty and requires authoritative reconciliation. The production policy belongs to the selected venue/application and its durable order-state design, not to a generic educational webpage.

In the invented sequence, submission O-02 has no response. A later supplied venue record links O-02 to an acceptance, while the fill remains missing. The corrected conclusion changes from unknown submission outcome to accepted order, without inventing a fill or erasing the earlier uncertainty. Keep both versions of the conclusion and their evidence dates. That history explains the review more accurately than replacing the timeout row with a green completed-trade label.

Review the exit and restart as separate paths

Testing a successful entry does not establish exit behaviour. Proposed scenarios include a rejected close, partial quantity, cancellation during an intervening fill, source amendment and receiver restart. Each must name the intended state and evidence. A general stop instruction can remain readable while the actual account action is unavailable. Do not describe every proposed safeguard as a documented feature of every compared product.

The final fictional packet links setup, message, submission, acceptance and fill where supplied, and preserves missing relationships. It establishes software-observation questions, not market edge, live liquidity or safe production deployment. Any actual unattended integration needs cloud-owned execution, durable authorised storage and failure handling. This publication creates no router, local scheduler, account fallback or permission to place orders from the worksheet.
