Crypto Signal Orders: Limits, Stops, Partial Fills and Cancellation

Reconcile a complete fictional order lifecycle and distinguish a trigger, requested price, accepted order and actual quantity.

Fictional examples, declared assumptions, no connected accounts.

An instruction is not yet an account operation

A publication saying buy near a level may not specify an order type, quantity, expiry or authorised venue. A trigger can tell a user that a condition occurred without proving an order was submitted. An accepted order can remain open, partially filled or later cancelled. A review must preserve those states instead of assuming the final chart tells the complete lifecycle.

Coinbase publishes order rules covering several types, partial execution and protections. Consult the actual current rules for the selected product: a general discussion of stops does not establish every venue uses the same trigger basis or resulting order. This guide supplies a classroom reconciliation, not an instruction to place a live order, an exchange test or a guarantee that a stop price limits the realised loss.

Complete a partial-entry example

All operations are invented. A request buys 10 SAMPLE with a maximum price of 100 Q. The supplied simulation shows 4 units at 99.8 Q and 3 at 100 Q. Seven units filled and three remain. The total price amount is 4 times 99.8 plus 3 times 100, or 699.2 Q. The executed average is 699.2/7, approximately 99.885714 Q. Neither the requested 10 units nor the price cap establishes a full 1,000 Q execution.

The fictional record then supplies a cancellation acknowledgement for the remaining three, with no intervening fill. The final entry quantity is seven. If the acknowledgement were missing, the remaining quantity would stay unresolved. A cancellation request alone would not justify treating it as cancelled. Retain the exact order and fill identifiers so another reader can see how several fills relate to one accepted request.

Reconcile a partial close without inventing flatness

Next the simulation supplies a sale of two units at 101 Q. Five units remain open. The amount attributable to the closed two before fees is 2 times the difference between 101 and the stated average-entry convention, approximately 2.228571 Q. That number does not describe the whole position. Its other five units need a valuation basis or actual close; they cannot disappear because a publisher announced a successful target.

Lot accounting and charges may require other conventions in an actual account. Preserve the method rather than implying this classroom average is a universal accounting rule. The bounded result contains a realised illustrative component and unresolved remaining exposure. Do not combine a closed-subset percentage with a complete-trade win claim. The instruction, operation lifecycle and account valuation remain related records, not interchangeable objects.

Explain a stop without a guaranteed exit

A stop condition can initiate another order under a venue policy. The resulting order may have its own price and execution constraints. A trigger observation is not an execution response. A stop-limit design can remain unfilled, and a market-style exit can have a different price from the trigger. The exact product definition, available liquidity and operation records determine what actually occurred.

For a separate invented failure case, a trigger is observed at 96 Q but no resulting order response is supplied. The review records the trigger and missing response; it does not create a sale at 96. If a later simulated fill is provided at 95 Q, its label and price belong to the record. Neither case gives a recommendation about where a reader should set an actual stop or how much capital to risk.

Keep the final lifecycle inspectable

The completed example retains requested ten, filled seven, cancelled three, closed two and remaining five. Those quantities reconcile: request equals fills plus cancelled remainder, and entry quantity equals close quantity plus open remainder. Preserve actual timestamps and authorised amendment versions when those are available. A message cancellation must not silently stand in for cancellation of an already submitted order.

Use a separate column for fees, funding and price-source assumptions. A chart that touched every target still cannot establish the subscriber quantities, average fills or close operations. A proposed trial should keep unfilled and rejected requests because they explain usability, while not assigning them invented realised profits or losses. This review supplies the accounting questions and fictional arithmetic; it is not an order router or a completed broker-account reconciliation.
